Rudy and his wife, Fran, opened “Rudy’s Music Stop” on 48th Street in New York City in 1978 and began turning his passions into tangible artistry. It wasn’t long before “Rudy’s Music” became a well-known and highly respected guitar shop to guitarists around the world. Rudy’s love and enthusiasm for what he does is contagious and his long list of regular customers still grows. It was only natural to include Rudy’s, an institution on Broome St. in Soho just a few blocks from us, on the Blue In Green Journal.
When it comes to true craftsmanship, there is definitely an analogue between the tremendous skill and artistry required to make a world-class custom guitar and the skill required to make world-class selvedge jeans. The guitar and denim communities are both defined by their appreciation for nuance, for detail, and for texture that cannot be approximated by digital manufacturing. We hit it off with the team at Rudy’s, who made us feel at home right away amongst the legendary new and vintage Fenders, Martin’s, Gibsons and Pensas made-in-house.
